Jousting Tournament at Argent Tournament.  It will also allow many of us to get an achievement.
Thu, Jun 18, 2009 Gellar

Something I saw on a WOW forum.  Create level 1 characters on a neutral server.  See who can accumulate the most gold in an hour or two.  I've read that there is a lot of begging involved and its actually quite fun and exciting.

As for jousting,  I think it favors too heavily players who have a lot of manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination which leave some of us out.  I do the jousts at the tournament, badly.

As much as I love the idea of the jousting tournament, I have to agree with Gellar.  Even tho it levels the gear playing field, some of our guildmates have really good reflexes, and some don't.

With the midsummer event coming up, we could try having a torch tossing competition.  That doesn't take much reflexive action, just the ability to move your character and correctly predict where the torch will land.

Fight Night!

Arena Guild PVP.  No experience necessary.  Laughter unavoidable.

There are many loopholes and ways to cheat in the variations of arena combat listed below, but we should be able to get something fun out of this.

‘Deathmatch’:  Everyone for him/her-self.  There can be only one

'Shirts vs. Skins':  /random groups made up for mortal combat.  A team finale deathmatch waged of ½-guild vs. the other ½-guild.

'GTO':  Guild-tabard-only.  For the blue-gears and epic-dismayed, don't fret.  Even matches of 'guild-tabard-only' or are on hand for those of unequal footing (gear). An endless slugfest (especially when it's druid vs. druid).

'Iron Chef':  Fight Night master of ceremonies hands out a 'secret' grey gear that all combatants must use to fight with.  Will it be the Pitchfork of Shame?  The Broom of Gloom?  The Farmer's Shovel?  The 21-pound Lobster? Only one Warlord will reign supreme!

‘Breakout’:  One team to defend a line drawn in the sand & another team to break through the defenses.  Switch sides and let the other team break through to get to the other side.  Which team can elude more defenders? Can the defense shutout the attackers?  Tally the points and /drink to the winners.

Iron Chef sounds awesome, but it will be tricky collecting all the grays.

I take it you mean for us to do this in the Gurubashi arena?

Any arena where we won't get too many 'outsiders' would be optimal.  Blade's Edge arena also possible.

Two ideas

1.  Everyone creates a level one toon on an alternate server.  Break the group up into teams of equal size, either randomly or by good class combinations.  The teams will have seperate vent chat rooms.  Then the Death Knight Observers escort the teams to a higher level area.  The team that takes down the highest level NPC in say 30-45 minutes is the winner.  Random roll determines the chopper winner from that group with smaller prizes to the others on the winning team.  Leveling might be a key part of the strategy.  Questing and pit stops for better gear might also be allowed - gotta choose between questing and grinding to get level.  The observers could be optional as long as people are honest, but could be used to get to a pvp area  if we stage it on a pvp server - players then become an additional hazard as well as an amusing target.

2.  I have always found elimination style events to be exciting.  Start up the 1st event in Ulduar 25 and have multiple heats of 3 people per heat (track terminology).  Each player attempts to run the gauntlet of the Flame Leviathan in one of the 3 vehicle types.  The gauntlet could be how far can you proceed north on the map before dieing or it could be a predefined obstacle course.  Tail gunners are an option that may or may not be intersting.  The organizer must keep track of how far each player or team proceeds.  The winner of each heat goes on to the semi finals and those winners to the final heat.

Death knight quest race:

Everybody rolls a Death Knight on a neutral server, and waits for the signal. Once start has been called, everybody then proceeds to run through the starting area as fast as possible. The natural end point is the battle for light's hope chapel, but if that's a bit long for folks, then we could pick another point, such as another one of the phasing changes.

'Darts':   Make a visible target underneath a high overpass like 1000 Needles, then jump.  Whoever splats nearest the center of the target wins!  Lvl 1 Taurens can make this a bullish no-floating-mages / no parachuting event.  Or, all jump from a Zepplin and whomever lands closest to <target>, wins!  Or, jump from an airship in Icecrown.

Taurens?  it should be gnomes! you can run an army of them up through lochmodan and jump them all off the dam wall into wetlands :)
