So I was at work today and we were talking about having a new prisident, and that he would be the first black prisident in our history when a co-worker stated that he thought we would have a woman president before we had our first black one. This made me curious so I did a little research online and it turns out that the black rights movement of 1870 ended in the fifteenth amendment allowing black men the right to vote. Whereas the womens sufferage movement which prompted the nineteenth ammendment and allowing women to vote didnt happen until 1920. So from a chronological standpoint it would make sense to have a black president before having a woman president. I have no particular feelings on having a black vs a woman president, I just found it interesting and thought I would share the info I found. by the way, the 2 states MOST opposed to BOTH ammendments were none other than Gerogia and Alabama......yee haw
