Heya guys.

I know there's been some discussion on what specc would be best suited to the new trees. As the patch with the new tress came out earlier than the expansion we were faced with a fairly sizable whack in the face with the nerf stick, with the need to keep raid viable for a few weeks yet. Demo was generally thought of as more of a pvp build with the new trees by many and from what I've seen recently in BG's this seems to be the general trend most locks are goin with. I know most of us tried our best to maintain our dps by sticking with our old destro builds and they have certainly remained a good raiding specc, though slightly diminshed from our former glory at the top of the meters. I approached the new trees rather apathetically as most of you would have heard but in the end I figured fuck it, I'll suck in raids for a few weeks but at least i wont need to respec to level, and I went afflic. Since the patch I've been playin the support afflic roll and while my individual dmg hasn't been astounding- particularly on trash- I found that I enjoyed my new roll boosting the other dps and easing the healers task a little just as much as sbolting my foes into oblivion. Much like my dagger specced rogue, my afflic build seemed to come into it's own on the longer boss fights when i had time to settle into my rotation. My dps and dmg increased significantly, the raids dps was slightly buffed (Malediction ftw) oh and btw I can go indeffinately. Seriously. Even without healers topping me up after a life tap as long as the mob aint pounding on me I will NEVER run out of mana or health. Much fun. My dots give me the versatility to dps on the run and dps mutltiple targets at once without AoE. Us locks aren't mages, we aren't limited to pelting trucks at mobs faces. We have subtlty at our disposal. There's something deeply satisfying about the sinister, creeping death an affliction build administers. I never rolled a lock just to sit at the top of the meters, and I know none of you did either. We play a class that we love. The playstyle, the character of the class- the poetry and story of the warlock's roll in the world. I have been pleasantly surprised. I expected to enjoy afflic- I always did- but I never expected to be raid viable. Turns out you can be and as an added bonus, I don't feel I need to respec every time I want to pvp or go farming. Dest still works- you guys have shown that and done it well but in my opinion affliction is the new again face of the warlock for Lich King. I don't know exactly what we're going to face in Northrend but I know that whatever it is, we'll be the ones feasting on it's soul when the day is said and done. Btw our last Hyjal raid- overall dmg done, who was on top? That's right kids. Come. Join me in the shadows brothers and sisters there is power here and we are far from done...

Well said Laddie. I have seen all of us take the nerf stick they threw at us and just toss it right back. We will never be beaten down, we will keep pwning the enemy until the end of time (or until the internet becomes self aware and takes over the world....). Good Job Locks, keep it up.

yeah, i gotta say that i never paid any attention to ur spec before u pointed it out in Hyjal - mainly cos u said in a previous post "Joe & i decided aff wasnt viable" or sum shit like that lol.. but i gotta say well done mate, i was very surprised to see the dmg an Aff lock can do & for the majority of hyjal i just cudnt bridge that 70k dmg gap u had over me (mob DoTing 4tw lol)

having said that tho, when i compare ur gear to mine i think i have my current destro spec sussed pretty well.. if i can stay that close to u with such an obvious gear difference then i cant wait to see what happens in the near future.. let the demo locks keep they're fluffy lookin demon form & wide variety of pets, if u ask me the strength of PvE locks lies in Aff & Destro.. there's a mutual need for one another to make each spec really stand out..

i cant wait to see how we all perform as a group once we're hitting WotLK end game content, i've had an absolute fucking ball running with everyone in this guild & the variety of personalities within our lil lock community always keeps me amused.. keep up the great work & we'll be the envy of the world (ok, maybe a bit excessive but u know what i mean)

and btw kala, last time i looked the lock who dominated dmg in the last Hyjal raid was DUSSK not Laddie - he's a rogue..

Lol!

Yeah man you do a heck of a lot with your gear. I enjoy the challenge of runnin with you, Kal, Watha and Glitters. We keep each other on our toes, that's for sure. In my previous post about Joe's and my decision not to roll with a support afflic it was looked at in relation to the old trees and T5 content we were doin at the time and in that respect the point still stands- it wasn't a required role for the raid. T6 instances and the new trees opened that door a little wider but even then if it hadn't been for the x-pac commin out and my lack of willingness to respec just for a few weeks of raiding I would not have had an afflic build for those raids. I was just as surprised as you in Hyjal lol. I wasn't running a meter for that run due to lag issues hee hee. Carpet dotting FTW indeedy lol!
